When you are preparing a flower garden, the first step is to look at the ground. Is it ready for planting? Is the soil rich in nutrients to give the flowers their best chance at healthy growth? Have we prepared the soil and removed all the hinderances like stones and old dead roots from other plants? Have we checked for unwanted bugs that could destroy the roots of our new plants?
In the same way we evaluate, our hearts. How do I look for growth? Does my heart need to be aerated? Are there some old leftovers from things I’ve grown in the past that I need to get rid of? I need to prepare the ground, my heart for this beautiful garden of commitment that I will offer God and others when I’m done. |
