Power to Change
If you are thinking that you want to change but you don’t really know where to start, you are in good company. It’s like getting from square one to square three. We know we have to have a square two to get there, but we just can’t seem to find it. We cannot figure out how to bridge the gap. We see where we are now and the place we want to be, but how do we get there from here?
Watty Piper wrote the famous children’s story “The Little Engine That Could.” It is an encouraging story about a little train engine that had a long, heavy load to pull. She was not sure she could make it up the longsteep hill. She tried and tried and finally had to go for help. With the assistance of another little engine, they pulled the cars up the long steep hill saying, “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can,” all the way to the top. The moral of the story is that if you believe you can, and you’re not afraid to ask for help, you can accomplish anything. Just like the little engine, we cannot make it up this long steep hill by ourselves. Square two is where we ask for help. We need the strength of the Lord to help us on this journey. When we feel weak, all we have to do is ask the Spirit to help us. He will. He gives us the power to change, to make the grade, and move on to square three.
Scripture Reading:
And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example,
we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy
Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.
-Romans 8:26 NLT
