King of Kings
What is it about royalty that intrigues us? When Prince William married Lady Kate Middleton, millions watched the wedding and waited for the “Kiss” on the balcony of the palace. It was a day of rejoicing and celebration.
The metaphor of kings and princes and royalty are used in literature and in history. Something about the stories lift us from our present circumstance and we dream of a day when a prince will rescue the princess held captive, or the princess’s kiss will transform the croaking frog into a handsome prince. Benevolent kings conquer the evil tyrants and bring peace and prosperity to the land. Evil is vanquished and good prevails. Such stories find their seed in Biblical truth. Our God is the most benevolent King of all. His righteousness and goodness are well known. There is none like Him!
One day, we will be in the presence of the greatest royalty ever to exist. We will be with the King of all kings. We won’t have to stand in a crowd of people wishing we were close enough to touch Him. We will be there with Him, bowing down at his feet and casting our crowns before Him.
All earthly authority will submit to His righteous reign, evil will vanish and His will be a reign of peace. What a glorious day that will be!
