Consecrate me Now
Remember the moment? The room was quiet. There was a holy hush as believers basked in the presence of God. No one wanted to move, to risk breaking the serenity of this sacred silence, reveling in the presence of a Holy God. During these times in His presence, it is easy to commit, to promise Him anything. “I give you all ... take my life ... here I am ... I give myself away ... take me ... mold me ... my life is not my own.”
We say the words; we form them with our lips, but do we really consecrate? When we leave His presence do we remember the things we gave Him? Do we remember how He lovingly took away all the trash and dirty rags of our self-righteousness?
Consecration is more than an emotional and momentary commitment. It is a sacred promise, the surrender of an important segment of our life to the purpose of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the object of our worship and the focus of our faith. He is the reason we make the commitment and our cause to which we consecrate.
“Lord, help me remember that when you touch me, you change me; when you change me you consecrate me. You set me aside for your purpose. Please touch me again and help me to understand the consecration you have lovingly bestowed upon me.”
