Arizona School of Ministry was born out of the desire of the leadership of the Arizona District United Pentecostal Church to provide ministerial training within the district. The formation and foundation of Arizona School of Ministry (AZSOM) was launched by conference vote in April 2011 at the Arizona District Conference in Casa Grande. Recognizing that many within the Arizona District may feel a call to greater involvement in ministry but do not have the means to attend an out of state college, AZSOM exists to provide ministry training, expanded biblical knowledge, and practical instruction for more effective Christian service.
It is vital that the church provide opportunities for Christian education. Most local assemblies do not have the staff or the time to offer a concentrated and diverse program of training for ministry. Some participants may feel the call to a future ministry of preaching or teaching while others may want to learn more to increase their understanding of Scripture and develop their passion for greater discipleship in the kingdom of God. Active Arizona ministers may also enroll in courses of interest to inspire or challenge them in personal growth and ministerial development. Everyone may benefit from the educational opportunities offered at Arizona School of Ministry.
Arizona School of Ministry is committed to teaching the Scripture with integrity and each instructor concurs with the Fundamental Doctrine of the United Pentecostal Church International. (See the official UPCI website: http://www.upci.org/about-us/beliefs.) Arizona School of Ministry is under the direction and oversight of the Arizona District United Pentecostal Church.
